Returns and Complaints Policy
How returns work when you buy directly from a seller, and how to raise a complaint or report a listing.
Last updated: 1 November 2026
Our role
Declutter Abuja connects buyers and sellers and provides a platform for product discovery and communication. Buyers and sellers independently negotiate prices, arrange inspections, agree on collection and make payments directly to each other. We do not receive payments, hold funds in escrow, verify bank transfers, or guarantee the condition or ownership of every listed item.
Returns
Because the sale is between you and the seller, any return or refund is agreed directly with the seller. Agree return terms before paying, and keep messages that record what you agreed. This is why inspecting the item before paying is so important.
Your legal rights
Nothing on this website removes or limits any rights you have under applicable Nigerian law, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018. If you believe a seller has acted unlawfully, you may contact the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) or the police.
How to report a listing
Open the item page and tap 'Report this Listing'. Choose a reason and add any details. No account is needed. You will receive a unique reference number (for example RPT-1A2B3C4D). Quote it if you contact us about the report.
How we review reports
Every report is reviewed privately by our moderation team. We may look at the listing, its photos and the seller's other listings, request more information, and then dismiss the report or take action. Actions include asking the seller for corrections, removing the listing, or restricting the seller from listing again. The person reported is not told who reported them.
Complaints about the marketplace
For complaints about how the website works or how a report was handled, use the Contact Us page and include your report reference or the listing link.
What we cannot promise
We cannot promise refunds, financial compensation or a guaranteed resolution of disputes between buyers and sellers, because we do not control payments or the physical exchange of goods. We will act on policy violations we find.
